  • Wine Royal – Two enter, none leave

    2012 - 12.13

Wine Improves with Age... I improve with Wine!

You may have noticed that some of the rating terms have changed on some parts of the website. These are some of the new terms we will be using; we will be updating the rest of the site and changing the older articles to avoid confusion. Though if you need to compare to the old terms they can still be found on the about page. So please feel free to tell us what you like, hate, or would like to see in the comments or via email contactus@wednesdaywine.com and I will do my best to make something worth following.

This week we will be reviewing one white and one red pitting them off in an epic battle. Two wines enter, only one wine leaves. Well that’s not really true. It’s more like two wines enter and two empty bottles leave.

    Gnarly Head - Chard

    Gnarly Head – Chard

What do we have here? A white wine, our first in a few weeks, not our best white but a decide one. Chard by Gnarly Head is a Chardonnay from California. We found ours at Bevmo for $9.99, though if you don’t have a Bevmo near by or yours doesn’t carry it gnarly head has a wine finder Here. That was sweet slightly sweet and nicely potent at 13.5% ABV. One of our guests this week Andrea said she really liked the smell. As for ratings Bridget, Dante and Chad where all set on a, “If there’s nothing else.” It was drinkable but not any of there favorite. Thaddeus was more of a fan of this one though giving it a, “I’d drink this all week.”

    Rating:
Bridget – If there’s nothing else
Dante – If there’s nothing else
Chad – If there’s nothing else
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week

Asti Winery - Cellar 8 California Red

    Asti Winery – Eight

Everyone I would like to introduce you to another member of the Cellar No. 8 line by Asti Winery. This is “Eight” a Red wine from California, you may remember a few weeks ago we tried the Pinot Noir in “A threesome in three ways.” “Eight” is a red from California that is 13.8% ABV., likes long walk on the beach, reading a book by the fire, and only costs $7.99 at Bevmo. Oh wait ignore that last part, it’s for my date profile. Anyway on the our actual thoughts on it, Bridget was not a fan she gave it, “A flaccid 3.” Dante wasn’t was at a take it or leave point on this one, giving it a, “If there’s nothing else.” Chad felt it was good but not great giving it a, “I’d get drunk on this.” Thaddeus was not a fan though, he a was clear down at, “Tastes like shit.”

    Rating:
       Bridget – A flaccid 3
Dante – If there’s nothing else
Chad – I’d get drunk on this
       Thaddeus – Tastes like shit
