  • We came here for Eye Candy and some Gran Spumante

    2012 - 10.17

I wish I could trade my heart in for another liver. That way I could drink more and care less.

Welcome to Wednesday Wine Night. We have a quality selection for you to read about this time, cause we are taking the wino thing to a new level of awesome. Please hold your applause until we are finished. Sadly Gina was not feeling well and was unable to attend this week, we were sad but persevered. The Wine Night must go on. If you would like to drink along with us we wouldn’t discourage it(Wednesday Wine Night does not condone the underage use of alcohol). Okay now hold on to your glasses boy’s and girl’s this should be fun.

We like to keep a good balance here at Wine Night as we have some people who prefer Reds and some who prefer Whites, and a few who just like to look at the bottom of their glass. We use very nice glasses. We had both Red and White wine this week and we may have mixed them a little. Our Red was called Eye Candy which just happened to also have been my nickname in high school. Our white was a nice little sparkling number called, “Gran Spumante”. It was a decent matchup this week we were a happy group.

Eye Candy – Eye Candy Cabernet Sauvignon

Oh this bottle of Eye Candy was technically a blend but mostly just Cabernet Sauvignon (Cabernet Sauvignon Blend: 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 1% Mixed red varietals). I would say it tastes like candy so if that’s what you are expecting you will be sorely disappointed. Though if you are expecting a Red to taste like candy, Cabernet Sauvignon is probably not what you are looking for. Though at 12.5% abv. and only $5.99 you might try it anyway and be surprised. We all agreed on this one, it’s a solid, “I’d get drunk on this.” This makes this the most balanced red we have had, congratulations us!

    Rating:
Bridget – I’d get drunk on this
Dante – I’d get drunk on this
Chad – I’d get drunk on this
Thaddeus – I’d get drunk on this

    Ballatore – Gran Spumante

Gran Spumante by Ballatore was probably our most popular Sparkling White to date. This was a nice lite sweet flavor with almost no after taste. Though Bridget is not a fan of sparkling wines, she said, “I don’t like the bubbles.” This would not be the wine to bring her for Christmas (I’m assuming are readers are all planning on getting us wine for Christmas because you enjoy our little spiel, hint, hint.) Dante and Chad both really enjoyed it saying, “I’d drink this all week.” Now if you are a scary thorough follower of WednesdayWine.com then you know that this is Thaddeus’s favorite so you should be surprised that he gave it a, “The bomb diggity” or on the soon to come new ratings system, “A hard 7.” He said, “I would buy a case of this but it wouldn’t last me long.” So 9% abv. and only $7.99 this Champagne like white was a nice enjoyable chug for us.

    Rating:
       Bridget – Tastes like shit
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week

To conclude good week, good wine, good night.
