I’m adding a new feature to the review this week, so will be looking for ways to make the reviews more interesting to you the reader. So please feel free to tell us what you like, hate, or would like to see in the comments or via email contactus@wednesdaywine.com and I will do my best to make something worth following.
Hello again my lovely little lushs, we’re glad you’ve decided to join we again. What a wine night we have for you. Three little wines rated by all five of our lovely people. Yes that is correct tonight was the first night in almost two months that everyone of us where able to make it.
Ensemble – Ensemble
Well well would you look at this lovely little “Ensemble”. It’s a nice California Red Blend consisting of 33% Zinfandel, 33% Syrah, and 33% Merlot which we picked up at our local Frys Food Store. At 13% ABV. and $7.99 a bottle this blend fell right in the realm of our of red blends so many of us like and I believe our ratings really reflect that. Bridget, Dante, and Gina where all in like with this wine give it a, “I’d get drunk on this.” Chad was long passed in like with this one, she was straight up bee’s knees for it. She called it her, “bomb diggity!” Thaddeus fell right smack dab in the center of the two opinions. He would take it out for dinner and a movie. He would even call it the next day, but he wasn’t planning the wedding and naming the kids. He felt it was a, “I’d drink this all week.”
Bridget – I’d get drunk on this
Dante – I’d get drunk on this
Gina – I’d get drunk on this
Chad – The bomb diggity
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
New Age – Red Blend
“New Age” had a new wine for us to try tonight. For $12.99 we found it at our local Bevmo. Both of the previous “New Age” wines turned out to be some our higher rated wines with the Vino Bianco receiving, “The bomb diggity” overall and the “New Age” Rose received an, “I’d drink this all week. Needless to say we where excited to try it. The Red Blend had an interestingly sweet flavored Red Blend from Argentina. The flavor by itself received excellent reviews, the problem for most of us was the sweetness over time. The general consensus was that this is a wine you would start or finish a night with one glass, not a wine you would want to drink all night long. Bridget, Chad, and Gina all agreed that with the ABV. at only 6%, if this where the only thing you drank all night you would likely start feeling sick from all the sugar. They decided that though the flavor was tasty they could only rate it an, “If there’s nothing else.” Dante loved the flavor of this one and didn’t think the sugar was too much for him to handle. He rated it the highest rating available, “The bomb diggity.” Thaddeus was close by Dante, though agreed it would be hard to drink too much in a night. He was will to try though and rated the “New Age” Red Blend a, “I’d drink this all week.”
Bridget – If there’s nothing else
Dante – The bomb diggity
Gina – If there’s nothing else
Chad – If there’s nothing else
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
Apothic – Apothic White
We had previously tried the “Apothic Red” in “Friends and booze you know its a good night” where we rated it a, “I’d get drunk on this.” Since then Chad tried the “Apothic White” and felt it was one we really needed to have at wine night. Since we trust Chad and Chad rarely enjoys a white wine, we had no problem picking this up at Bevmo, though it is also avalible at Total Wine for $8.99. This turned out to be a good decision. At 12.5% ABV. this White Blend from California was kind of sweet, but the sweetness was not over powering. Bridget was okay with it, though not really a fan. She rated this one a, “If there’s nothing else.” Dante, Gina, Chad, and Thaddeus all felt this was a definite, “I’d drink this all week.”
Bridget – If there’s nothing else
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Gina – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
