Sparkling Raspberry Cupcake
2012 -

In the last few months Wednesday Wine Night has become very popular in our social group. Everyone wants in; I mean it is justifiable midweek drinking who wouldn’t want in? So it’s not uncommon for someone who not a regular to join us, this was the first week in a while that it was just our standard cast and crew which made it nice and chill, sort of a Wine Night Classic.
This Week on Wednesday Wine Night, the group sampled a Sparkling Raspberry from Weibel Vineyards. Then they decided why stop now and tried a Chardonnay called Cupcake by Central Coast and that’s not all, they washed down the Cupcake with a malt beverage (it didn’t call itself wine on the bottle but it tasted enough like wine for us, so it counts) Verdi Spumante. Well that’s not exactly what happened, it was actually less alcoholicy, more raised pinkies and using phrases like “full bodied” and “wafting”. Alright that’s a lie too, but it was somewhere in the middle I’m pretty sure.
Weibel Vineyards – Sparkling Raspberry
This was an excellent start to our night, this Raspberry Sparkling wine was a hit with everyone. It is easily one of our top picks, maybe not a “bomb diggity” but if you offered to buy us a few bottles we would happy to except. Especially considering Bridget, Dante, Gina, and Chad all rated it, “I’d drink this all week” (I’ll let you in on a secret, Chad only rated this, “I’d drink this all week” cause she didn’t want it to be rated as high as one she tasted a little later in this article, oh yeah *spoiler alert*). Thaddeus on the other hand was a solid “The bomb diggity” he also said, “The smell is awesome.”
Rating:
Bridget – I’d drink this all week
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Gina – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – The bomb diggity
Central Coast – Cupcake
Next up is one Dante introduced us to last week call “Cupcake” and we didn’t get it a proper rating on it. So we brought it back this week, cause if we don’t have it written down we won’t remember if we like it or not. Yes we use the wine list too when buying wine, don’t judge. Bridget, Dante, and Gina all felt this cupcake was kind of, “Like drinking bong water” not usually a flavor you look for in a cupcake. Chad and Thaddeus on the other hand thought, “I’d get drunk on this” something they might actually look for in their cupcakes. So not in our top ten, but at least some of us would eat this cupcake.
Rating:
Bridget – Like drinking bong water
Dante – Like drinking bong water
Gina – Like drinking bong water
Chad – I’d get drunk on this
Thaddeus – I’d get drunk on this
Bosca-Canelli – Verdi Spumante
Last and definitely not least the Verdi Spumante, our “Malt Beverage” of the night, seeing as we are not professionals nor wish to be professionals we have never actually researched any of the wines we drink and mostly choose them based on liking the name or the bottle. This one we did have to look this one up after we read, “Malt beverage”. I guess technically this isn’t a wine and according to, sippitysup.com this is more of a beer than a wine. To which we must disagree, this is a wine to us and we liked it as such, mostly because Thaddeus would be insulted if you called this a beer. So on that note we will rate this WINE for you. Bridget would, “get drunk on this” and thought it tasted like candy. Dante and Thaddeus would gladly, “drink this all week” and Gina and Chad where adamant that this was, “The bomb diggity”. Remember when I said Chad rated the Sparkling Raspberry “I’d drink this all week” instead of “The bomb diggity” her love of this is why. Damn your deliciousness, messing with other delicious wines.
Rating:
Bridget – I’d get drunk on this
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Gina – The bomb diggity
Chad – The bomb diggity
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
