Happy Thanksgiving to you, my lovely little winos, I mean connoisseurs of wines of all verities both in taste and quantity!
Welcome again to our quest to discover the best wine for the best price you can. Tonight was very special because tomorrow is thanksgiving, though Gina sadly was not able to make it we did have plenty of guests and tried a plethora of wines mostly Reds (this was not a shrewd attempt at tongue and cheek racism). With all our guests and the happy go lucky triviality I made a mistake, sorry it happens on the few of the wines I missed Bridget’s opinion. She was there I just failed to pick up on this fact until it was too late. So my apologies to you the reader I’ll make up for it with a few extra humorous quips.
Question: What did the grape say when it got stepped on?
Answer: Nothing – but it let out a little whine.
Question: What’s a Scottsdale girl’s favorite wine?
Answer: ‘Daddy! can I go to Cabo!’
Hopefully I have won back your hearts and minds. I have? Good deal, then let get a move on. So many wines, so little time let’s get a move on.
Third Wheel – Red Blend
No one wants to be a Third Wheel but we did enjoy the company of our Third Wheel. Third Wheel Winery made this pleasant, red blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. At 13.5% the Australia winery did a decide job on our scale and can be found at: Total Wine for $9.99. That said Bridget was not a fan, this was only a “Tastes like shit” on her scale. Dante and Chad where both at the, “I’d get drunk on this” they liked their Third wheel but where not quite in like with it. Thaddeus could be found just a little higher on the scale as this red was close to the heart being one of the first he ever tried he have it a, “I’d drink this all week.”
Bridget – Tastes like shit
Dante – I’d get drunk on this
Chad – I’d get drunk on this
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
Kitchen Sink – Red Table Blend
The Kitchen Sink, yeah tend to shop by cleaver names. The Kitchen Sink is a red table blend: Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah from California that can be found at: Total Wine for $9.99. It was similar to Third Wheel though we overall enjoyed it more. Dante and Chad both gave it a, “I’d drink this all week.” Thaddeus though gave it a “I’d get drunk on this.”
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d get drunk on this
Big Red Monster – California Red
Big Red Monster A California Red which we will be ignoring the obvious sexual reference. This can be found at Fresh and Easy or online at Amazon.com. A 14.4% ABV. and $12.98 bottle this California wine wasn’t half bad. I mean it’s not topping any of our charts, but Dante, Chad, and Thaddeus all agreed we would, “get drunk on this.”
Dante – I’d get drunk on this
Chad – I’d get drunk on this
Thaddeus – I’d get drunk on this
Bogle Vineyard – Essential Red
Essential Red by Bogle Vineyard is a 13.5% California Red from you guessed it California, a lot from California Wines tonight. We found this particular one at Bevmo for $8.99 and with its 13.5% ABV. it’s right in the same range as our other reds. Dante and Chad both put this at, “I’d drink this all week.” Thaddeus was right on their coat tails rating this, “I’d get drunk on this.”
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d get drunk on this
Lucky Duck – Riesling
Well are you all just a bunch on Lucky Ducks cause guessing what? Did you guess? Well if not I don’t really care I’m going to proceed anyway. Our one white of the night was also our highest overall rating of the night go us. Lucky Duck Riesling from Germany is a Walmart exclusive and at only $3.97 a bottle a good deal. Though it’s 9.5% ABV. so it’s not as potent as the other ones we’ve drank tonight but we all thought it tasted good and it will get the job done. Bridget, Dante, Chad, and Thaddeus all give it a solid, “I’d drink this all week.”
Bridget – I’d drink this all week
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
Scoops – Red Blend
So here’s the scoop on Scoops Red Blend is of course a Red Blend from California with an ABV of 13.5%. It’s made by a small up and coming winery whose wines can presently only be found in the following states: NJ, NY, IL, MD, CT, FL, SC, RI, CO, AZ, WA, WI, DC, NV, LA and DE. We found it at Safeway here in AZ and if you would like to try it they have a nice little map of places it’s sold, here. Our opinion on this one was fairly positive, Bridget said, “I’d get drunk on this.” Dante, Chad, and Thaddeus all agreed once again on this one, “I’d drink this all week.” So good on you Scoops, a red we all liked.
Bridget – I’d get drunk on this
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
