To the reader who requested Fat Bastard Shiraz, we are working on getting it. I looked for it at Total Wine, but were out of it when I went in. I will continue to work on finding it, and we will try it once I do. Just not this week, sorry.
Wine night is more than just trying new things each week for us. It’s about friends getting together to talk about the good times, the bad times, and the memories. It gives us a chance to really gain a better understanding of one another. We each have our own very distinct tastes and opinions on most issues. I believe this is why our little group works so well together, we all bring our own brand of insanity to the table.
Anyway this weeks wines where a nice mix, a little bit of something for everyone. We had a nicely sweet Moscato and a red blend by Apothic to celebrate the Halloween season. We also tried mixing the two and found it to be a nice combo wine. We didn’t rate the combo, maybe that should be a new feature? Each week we also mix the wines we try to see what mixes well. What do you think? Tell us in the comments.
Luccio – Moscato D’Asti
Sweet sassy molassy Moscato D’Asti by Luccio was one for people with a sweet tooth. This white from Italy checked in at only 5.5% ABV. not that high for a wine, that’s actually right around your average beer. As a Moscato we weren’t that surprised that the flavor was sweet and overall we didn’t mind. Bridget doesn’t like her wines too sweet saying she, “ wouldn’t be able to drink that(the Moscato).” She had to give it a, “Like drinking bong water.” Dante and Thaddeus both said, “I’d drink this all week.” I don’t know how two guys who are so sweet could stand the extra sugar, but I guess that’s what fuels them to begin with. Dante said, “I’d drink an entire bottle of it.” Thaddeus said, “Tasted really good at first.” Chad was stuck in the middle of the group, saying “It’s like juice. I like this.” Though she also felt it was too sweet to drink much of and decide to mix it with her red, making a delicious hybrid. In the end Chad settled on a, “If there’s nothing else.” Though the general consensus was though it’s a good tasting wine, it’s too sweet to drink all night.
Bridget – Like drinking bong water
Dante – I’d drink this all week
Chad – If there’s nothing else
Thaddeus – I’d drink this all week
Apothic – Apothic Red
Apothic Red, tis the season for a blood red wine, seeing as Halloween is right around the corner. I know what you are thinking, “aw, is this another red blend?” and the answer is yes. Buy us what you want us to rate and review and we will talk about that one. Heck or make suggestions in the comments and if we can get them without much trouble we will review those. Until that day we will do what we want. Today what we want is to rate Apothic Red by Apothic an 13% ABV. It’s a Rich Zinfandel, Flavorful Syrah, Bold Cabernet Sauvignon, Smooth Merlot Blend from California. Bridget said, “It’s kind of like mapley.” Chad said, “I like it alot.” They both felt it was a, “I’d drink this all week.” Dante wasn’t far behind, he said, “(I’d give it a) 5 and a half if I could.” That would put him between “I’d drink this all week” and “I’d get drunk on this.” Maybe he would only drink it three times in a week but would get drunk all three times. He finally settled on, “I’d get drunk on this.” Thaddeus in true red dislike fashion gave it a, “Like drinking bong water.” So it looks like if you like red blends this would be a good one for you.
Bridget – I’d drink this all week
Dante – I’d get drunk on this
Chad – I’d drink this all week
Thaddeus – Like drinking bong water
