It is finally cold enough to break out our portable fireplace to add a little ambiance. This went well with tonight’s wine a red Merlot. Even though Red’s are supposed to be served at room temperature, something about the cold weather makes them taste better. The temperature may have affected some of our opinions.
Smoking Loon – Merlot
Smoking Loon Merlot by Don Sebastiani & Sons is a California Merlot. With an ABV. of 13.5% right in the sweet spot for the wine we tend to like. We picked it up for about $7.99 a bottle at our local Bevmo. Bridget and Chad liked this one quite a bit, rating it, “A hard 6.” Dante wasn’t a fan giving it, “A flaccid 3.” Gina and Thaddeus where both indifferent on it giving it a, “If there’s nothing else.” So overall this wine was slightly above average.
Bridget – A hard 6
Dante – A flaccid 3
Gina – If there’s nothing else
Chad – A hard 6
Thaddeus – If there’s nothing else
